A Northport woman has been charged with three felonies after investigators found she was allegedly high and distracted when she caused a head-on collision that killed another woman and injured two children last August.

According to court documents filed Tuesday morning, the suspect, 25-year-old Zoe Raine Moore, was driving north on U.S. Highway 43 on the afternoon of August 4th, 2022, when she crossed the center line and her Hyundai Elantra hit a 2000 Toyota Camry.

41-year-old Tiffiney Nicole Barger was driving the Toyota and her two juvenile children were riding with her.

Barger was killed in the collision and both children were hurt badly, with injuries including multiple fractures each and extensive lacerations.

Now, five months after the deadly accident, police have charged Moore with one count of manslaughter for Barger's death and two counts of first-degree assault for the injuries the children sustained.

Investigators said Moore caused the accident, and that toxicology samples showed she was under the influence of marijuana when it happened. A forensic analysis of her phone also allegedly showed that Moore "was distracted by the use of her cell phone while driving and that her distraction while driving was a serious contributing factor to the crash."

All three charges filed against Moore this week are Class B felonies. She was arrested Monday, but she was not listed as an inmate in the Tuscaloosa County Jail Tuesday afternoon, which may indicate she has since been released on bond. Her mugshot was not publicly available at the time this report was published.
