Kirk Memorial Service Draws Hundreds to Club on Tuscaloosa Strip
A new venue on the Strip in Tuscaloosa drew hundreds of students and locals Wednesday night for a memorial service honoring Charlie Kirk, the conservative commentator who was assassinated at an event last week.
The Druid City has already been the site of a prayer vigil in the immediate aftermath of the shooting and many fraternities on the University of Alabama campus hung banners remembering Kirk this week.

On Wednesday night, Two Dimes hosted a 'We Are All Charlie Kirk’ memorial rally that drew students, who could attend for free, and many others, whose $15 donation for attendance will benefit the Kirk family. The just-opened venue replaces the former Druid City Music Hall on University Boulevard.
Owner Ric Mayers said he organized the event as a call to action to get and keep people involved in causes important to Kirk.
Speakers included CJ Pearson, a former University of Alabama student turned political activist in conservative politics, reality TV star Savannah Chrisley and others.
"Charlie Kirk’s assassin wanted to extinguish a voice. Instead, he sparked a REVIVAL," Pearson wrote on Instagram.
The event also drew a significant police presence to the Strip on Wednesday, where the Tuscaloosa Police Department, UAPD, and other agencies made sure there were no disruptions to the peaceful event, where all weapons were banned.
"We have a lot of experience handling major events, and our goal is always to make sure people are not only safe, but feel safe too," a TPD spokesperson told the Thread.
