A fugitive accused of attempted murder in Greene County was captured in Tuscaloosa Friday morning after a brief standoff with local and federal police.

Stephanie Taylor, a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said TPD officers and US Marshals were called to the 2500 block of 10th Street East Friday morning to arrest 29-year-old Roderick Ball, who is wanted in Greene County for attempted murder and shooting into an occupied building.

Taylor did not say much about the charges for which Ball was wanted, except they were filed after an incident in Greene County last month.

Ball briefly barricaded himself in the residence on 10th Street, but Taylor said he surrendered at 9:30 Friday morning and was taken into custody.

The standoff briefly drew a large number of police officers and TPD's Special Response Team to the scene.

Taylor said Ball is now in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Task Force, who will transport him back to Greene County to face the charges against him there.
