Alabama Quarterback Ty Simpson named Maxwell Award Semifinalist
On Tuesday, Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson was named a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award, presented annually to the top player in college football. Simpson is one of 13 players named semifinalists, including five players from the SEC and nine quarterbacks across college football.

Simpson is joined in the SEC by:
Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton
Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss
Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed
Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia
Simpson, a redshirt junior from Martin, Tennessee, has taken the reins as the Alabama starting quarterback after spending time sitting and learning behind Bryce Young and Jalen Milroe. As Alabama's starting quarterback for the 2025 season, Simpson has started all nine games so far for Alabama. He's completed 66.9% of his passes for 2,461 yards and 21 touchdowns. Simpson has also added 87 yards and two scores on the ground this season.
The Maxwell Award is often awarded to the same individual as the Heisman Trophy. Simpson has hovered around the top of the Heisman Trophy odds this season and is currently fourth in the odds behind Indiana's Fernando Mendoza, Ohio State's Julian Sayin, and Texas A&M's Marcel Reed. All three players ahead of Simpson were named semifinalists for the Maxwell Award.
Alabama's next game will come this Saturday, November 15, at 2:30 p.m. The Crimson Tide will host No. 11 Oklahoma in Bryant-Denny Stadium.
