Despite the struggles on defense, Lawson and Moore have been some bright spots with on-field play for Alabama this season. Their impact has been recognized, with both being named quarterfinalists for the Lott Impact Trophy this season.

So far this season, Lawson has totaled 50 tackles, one sack, three pass breakups, and one forced fumble. He's also the "green dot" player, with a green dot on his helmet indicating he is the defensive signal caller.

Malachi Moore, despite his outburst against Vanderbilt, has been a good player in the Crimson Tide's secondary this season. He's totaled 36 tackles, four pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

Their contributions on the defensive side of the ball have contributed to Alabama's 5-1 record this season, with Malachi Moore potentially helping Alabama avoid a second upset against South Carolina, but telling cornerback Domani Jackson to get out of the endzone before taking a knee to end the 27-25 victory.
