Tide’s DT Tim Smith on Frustrating Lost Against Tennessee Saturday
Alabama's Defensive Tackle Tim Smith spoke with the media following the Crimson Tide's frustrating loss to the #7 Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday, and Smith expressed confidence for the rest of the season.
Smith remarked that the Alabama team's poor performance over the last few weekends can be attributed to a lack of execution. The Tide defense allowed 24 points in the second half of this game after shutting down the Volunteers in the first half, keeping Tennessee to zero points going into halftime.
Alabama's defensive lineman made three tackles in Saturday's loss to Tennessee, as the Crimson Tide gave up 408 yards, 214 of which were on the ground.
When asked if it's frustrating that the team can't hit on all cylinders with the Crimson Tide's inconsistent play from both sides of the ball in Alabama's past three games, Smith responded that it doesn't really frustrate him because at the end of the day, "when the offense goes out there, they got our back, and when we go out there, we got the offense's back."
Smith stated that despite the Crimson Tide's loss to Tennessee on Saturday, the Tide's postseason prospects remain alive because "everything that we want is ahead of us and right there, we can still accomplish everything that we need."
Alabama will drop to 5-2 on the season and 2-2 in conference action following this disappointing loss to the Volunteers, with the Crimson Tide attempting to bounce back when they host the Missouri Tigers next Saturday at Bryant Denny Stadium.
