Jalen Milroe, Alabama's junior quarterback, spoke to the media after the Crimson Tide's disheartening 24-17 defeat to the hands-off Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday and took responsibility for the offense's lack of execution.

Milroe began by describing his team's current plans for responding to the game, adding, "Now it's all about how to refocus." "How can we reflect and build."

Milroe, who did not play his best today, threw for over 239 yards and one touchdown through the air while throwing two costly interceptions, the first in the end zone and the second on Alabama's final offensive drive, when Milroe was picked off by Birmingham native Will Brooks to seal the game for the Volunteers.

Milroe accepted responsibility for his bad performance, noting, "That's definitely something I can improve at, giving our guys a chance." The Tide quarterback went on to describe how he needs to do a better job of getting the ball into his teammates' hands so they can make plays.

When asked what went wrong on the opening drive, the Tide lost 10 yards and ran three plays, with Alabama picking up a false start and Jalen Milroe taking a nasty sack that caused him to fumble the ball, which he eventually recovered. Milroe acknowledged the Tennessee fan base and the loudness that was generating confusion for the Crimson Tide, resulting in all of Alabama's mistakes on the first drive in Saturday's loss to Tennessee.

Tide junior quarterback Milroe sees the bright side of his team's loss to Tennessee, claiming that "it was a great opportunity for us to have a chance like this that we can now reflect and understand what it takes to win games like this." With the Crimson Tide traveling to a hostile Neyland Stadium and losing in a hard-fought contest, the Tide may have learned from their experience and will be more comfortable with how to win these types of games in the future.

When asked about Kendrick Law, Milroe stood behind his teammate. Law had a detrimental unsportsmanlike conduct when he and a Tennessee player exchanged words after an incomplete pass on 3rd and 7 with two minutes left in the game, when Law shoved the Tennessee player's facemark, resulting in a 4th and 20 for Alabama, and the Tide turned the ball over on downs. Milroe answered to a question about his teammate by saying, "I trust K-law, and I appreciate K-law." Milroe also discussed all of the emotion that goes into the game.

Jalen Milroe, when asked what his message is to the fans with the team already having two losses only seven games into the season, responded with "Control our Controllables," stating that he and his teammates are not only playing for their families and teammates, but also for the state of Alabama, with Milroe optimistic about the future of this season.

Alabama, who is currently 5-2 and 2-2 in conference play following Saturday's 24-17 loss to Tennessee, will attempt to reflect and grow on Saturday's loss when they visit the Missouri Tigers next Saturday, October 26th, 2024, in Tuscaloosa.
