Alabama LB Deontae Lawson Following 27-24 Win Over Missouri
After the Crimson Tide's 27-24 victory over No. 14 Missouri on the road Saturday, senior linebacker Deontae Lawson spoke to the media about his thoughts on the team's performance. He also shared the main message for the team's upcoming game this week.

Lawson began his conversation with the media by sharing the team's message and mindset for this past week as the Tide prepared for a road matchup against a top-15 opponent.
"The main message is we were in enemy territory, and you know we had to run and show out there, and you know just trying to bring that life to us, cause we know how we go, that's how the defense is going to go."
Lawson who had a stellar performance in Saturday's game with the linebacker recording seven total tackles with five of those being solos, was asked how much that game sealing interception in the fourth quarter by Dijon Lee meant to the freshamn cornerback who dropped a interception in the beginning of Saturday's win in which Lawson responded with a message him and other players on the team shared with the freshman cornerback following his dropped interception.
"I told him and and a couple guys on the team told him and a couple guys told him it's coming back to you so just make it when it comes to you and that was a big thing for this game cause early on and kind of later in the game we wasn't like making our plays." Lawson added "we'd have plays in the backfield or ball on the ground, but we not making our plays so that was a big thing that we try to push for in the second half."
When asked about the fake punt and its impact on the game, Lawson explained that he didn’t see the play live because he had his back turned to the field until it was reviewed. However, he noted that the stop was crucial, as it led to a touchdown for the Crimson Tide, giving them a ten-point lead with just 3:16 remaining in the fourth quarter.
"I actually think my back was still turned towards the field like I didn't even get to see it to be honest and then I just looked back and they did the review thing." Lawson said "But that was a huge stop for our team but definitely a momentum swing for us."
Lawson and the defense delivered an outstanding performance today, allowing the Tide to hold Missouri to just one conversion out of ten attempts on third downs. They also forced two interceptions and recorded two sacks. Lawson attributed this success to the team’s mentality, emphasizing that they take pride in being "unbreakable."
"We pride ourselves on being unbreakable, and that's our team slogan, so I mean, we just know that we're going to execute in those situations. I mean, that's something we practice every day, and like I've been saying, that we've been preaching it all year long. It just happened to show today, but we're going to continue to build on that."
Lawson and the Crimson Tide's defense will face another challenge on Saturday, October 18th, when they compete against their conference rivals, Tennessee, at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
