In the post-game interview, Deboer spoke on tonight's loss to Vanderbilt.
"I really do believe our guys prepared hard...there's somethings we will look back on tomorrow and be really frustrated about," said Deboer.
"We win as a team, we lose as a team," said Deboer. Reporters asked Deboer what led to the Crimson Tide having issues getting off the field defensively. "The quarterback did a nice job of creating," said Deboer. "We have to do a better job of being disciplined." Deboer continued by saying, "Tip of the hat to them, made the throws and catches they needed to and got themselves in some manageable third downs."

Malachi Moore became visibly upset at the end of the game; he kicked the ball from the line of scrimmage which resulted in an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. When asked about Malachi Moore getting frustrated at the end Deboer states, "He was much better when he got in the locker room, the guy pours everything into what he does, that doesn't make it okay...the key is that we turn that frustration into positives moving forward and make sure we remember what we feel here tonight."

Deboer weighed in on another question about the time of possession by saying, "We need to take care of the football, and we needed to get them off the field on third down, we are going to own it as a team and keep moving forward."

Wyatt Fulton from Tide100.9 asked coach Deboer about what he was saying to Jalen Milroe during the time out before Alabama scored.
Deboer answered, "We go through two-minute drills every week and I just keep reminding him of all the scenarios and that was something that he would ask about a lot this week when he and I were meeting." Deboer continued with "I just reminded him that most two-minute drills isn't about the clock, but it's about running out of downs...it was about that and getting first downs leading to the score and I thought he did a great job with that, he managed it, got us down there we got the 4th down and got the touchdown."
