In Sanderson's six years at Tuscaloosa Academy, he led the team to two AISA state championships and had them in the championship game a total of four times. In total, he compiled a 120-36 record with the Knights. Sanderson's very first season at Tuscaloosa Academy resulted in a playoff trip.

Sanderson also led the transition from AISA to AHSAA for the small private school, which now plays in the 2A division. As a first year team, Sanderson's squad handed eventual 2A state champion Aliceville its only loss of the season. It also defeated 4A American Christian Academy and Bibb County High School. For multiple weeks in the Knights' inaugural AHSAA season, Sanderson had them ranked No. 1.

Sanderson comes to Northridge with a wealth of knowledge not just on coaching basketball, but what it takes for students to be successful in getting to the next level. He has been an assistant coach at the Division I level of the NCAA, spending time in both the ACC and SEC. Additionally, his father is legendary Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Wimp Sanderson.

Both the Sanderson's can be heard every weekday from 7 to 9 a.m. on their show "Inside the Locker Room" on Tide 100.9, where they regularly discuss the happenings of local high school basketball.
