The news of George Jones' death sparked in me a fascination about his life with Tammy Wynette. Several YouTube videos later, I stumbled across Tammy's performance of 'Good Lovin' Makes It Right'.
Researching her performance further, I learned that her former husband was standing to the left of the stage which makes the look she sends off camera at 1:20 that more interesting. Her entire relationship with George is summarized in one long, pointed glance.
Any initial amusement I felt at the song's lyrics quickly gave way to respect at the control Wynette displays with her breathtaking voice.
The husky catch and adroitly managed hesitation displays why she was the benchmark all other female country artists should aspire to meet.
