For the last 23 years, Ryan Fowler has been entertaining Tuscaloosa and west Alabama with his commentary on headlines surrounding The University of Alabama and the Southeastern Conference, as well as, major stories in the sports world. Fowler’s 1st year in radio was when Mike Dubose was coaching at Alabama. Fowler has been fortunate to interview many of the Alabama football legends who enhance the rich history of the university. Joe Willie Namath, Earl Campbell, AJ McCarron, Lee Roy Jordan, John Hannah, Barrett Jones, Archie Manning and many other legends of college football hang out to share their stories and he features many of them weekly. Fowler’s show airs during the afternoon drive from 2-6pm on Tide 100.9/1230 WTBC, we also have a strong following on the streaming options which are available on Tide1009.com, Tide 100.9 app, and several listening devices offer Tide 100.9 as another possible listening option. One thing that separates Fowler’s show from the other great shows that air on Tide 100.9 is that we are a caller friendly show and take a lot of phone calls during the 4 hour show. The Game with Ryan Fowler enjoys engaging listeners who will call and share their opinion or analysis on the subject we are discussing that day. My goal is to treat the callers like they are my co-host for that short amount of time. Over 50% of the callers who call into my show are from outside of the Tuscaloosa area. We use several social networks to invite new listeners to the station and listen to my show. New technology and the Alabama’s success during the Nick Saban era has made the fan who lives outside of the area want a direct connection to Tuscaloosa. We provide that connection for them. Fowler goes to press conferences multiple times a week, and covers all of Alabama’s games, home or away. Living in Tuscaloosa provides our hosts an opportunity to develop a strong connection with what happens on Alabama’s campus and around our community. We do not pretend to be part of Tuscaloosa like some of our competition, we are Tuscaloosa and Ryan Fowler loves being part of this awesome community. Fowler considers himself so blessed to be able to cover one of the greatest dynasties in sports and arguably the greatest coach in college football history. Fowler’s favorite part of his job is covering the Crimson Tide and witnessing one of the greatest dynasties in the history of college football. Outside of radio, Ryan and his wife live in Coker, AL with their daughter and two beautiful blue Weimaraners named Samson and Riley. They are awesome dogs and treated like royalty. The dogs provide daily assistance during prep work, they generally hear the show before anyone else. They are Fowler’s sounding board. Thank you, Riley and Samson, they are compensated with a ton of snacks, including ice cream from one of Ryan’s favorite restaurants. Some of Ryan’s hobbies include watching sports in person, visiting other SEC Stadiums, deer hunting, hiking, small home remodeling projects, working in the yard, and gardening. Yes gardening! Ryan says he just enjoys spending time outside and exploring what Alabama the beautiful has to offer. Fowler enjoys traveling with his wife and their favorite way to travel is via cruise ship, which forces them to shut down and get the batteries fully charged before football season starts. Fowler’s favorite sports teams are the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Dallas Cowboys. There is nothing more important in my life than my daily walk with Jesus Christ. I mention my Christian faith often during my show.
