Amari Cooper Becomes 17th NFL Rookie Ever to Reach 1,000 Yards
Former Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper reached the 1,000-yard receiving plateau on Sunday, which puts him into an elite group of players at his position.
The Raiders fourth-overall pick in May became just the 17th wide receiver in NFL history to eclipse 1,000 yards in his first season. Cooper recorded his fifth 100-yard receiving game against the Packers when he caught nine passes for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
The big day put him in the record books for Oakland as well. Cooper became the first Raiders rookie to reach that milestone and the first Oakland receiver since Randy Moss in 2005 to have a 1,000-yard season.
For the season, the 2014 Biletnikoff Award winner has 68 receptions for 1,040 yards with two games remaining. He currently sits 12th all-time for rookie receiving yards and could crack the top five if he maintains his average of 75 yards per game. The best rookie season ever was Bill Groman's 1,473 yards in 1960.
