Alabama Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth made a recommendation that several businesses across the state reopen immediately. In a press conference this morning, Lt. Gov Ainsworth detailed a plan to open several Alabama businesses that have currently been closed as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Ainsworth made his recommendations to Governor Kay Ivey today, stating that many small businesses could reopen provided they operate with 50% occupancy and follow social distancing guidelines. Ainsworth also said he feels many restaurants could also open to on-site dining provided patrons seat six feet apart and that salons, barber shops, and tattoo parlors could also reopen if they offer their services by appointment only.

Ainsworth also said that many other businesses could reopen on May 1, including bingo parlors, race tracks, museums, and theaters as well as gyms. These facilities would also be required to practice social distancing and follow CDC guidelines.
