Alabama Leaps into Basketball AP Poll

The Alabama Crimson Tide basketball team has vaulted into the newest edition of the AP Poll, rising eight spots from last week and coming in at No. 18. Alabama went 2-0 last week, beating Kentucky in Rupp Arena and Arkansas at home. It is the Crimson Tide's first time in the AP Poll since December of 2017.

Alabama is on a seven-game winning streak and is a perfect 6-0 to open SEC play. The Tide has defeated the other top teams in the SEC including No. 7 Tennessee on the road on its way to the top of the league.

Alabama has gotten off to its hot start despite not having its full compliment of players. The Crimson Tide lost forward Alex Tchikou to an Achilles injury prior to the season, starting point guard Jahvon Quinerly missed three games with a medical issues, forward Jordan Bruner is currently out with a knee issue and Herb Jones is playing through a finger issue.

In addition to its appearance in the AP Poll, the Crimson Tide moved up to No. 16 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, up from No. 24 last week.

The Crimson Tide has been led offensively by senior, John Petty and sophomore Jaden Shackelford, each player is averaging just over 13 points per game while the team as a whole is averaging 80 points per game this year.

Alabama will be back in action on Tuesday night against LSU in Baton Rouge. The game will tip-off at 8 p.m. and be aired on television on ESPN2 and can be heard on the radio on 95.3 The Bear.
