The likelihood of a winter storm hitting the area on Wednesday has gone from a possibility to something that is now expected to happen. The National Weather Service Birmingham has elevated our watch to a full blown Winter Storm Warning. This alert is from 9am Wednesday until midnight.

The warning area includes these counties:

  • Bibb
  • Fayette
  • Lamar
  • Marion
  • Pickens
  • Tuscaloosa

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BIRMINGHAM HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM
WEDNESDAY TO MIDNIGHT CST WEDNESDAY NIGHT. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* EVENT...ACCUMULATING SNOW ACROSS PORTIONS OF CENTRAL ALABAMA.

* TIMING...FROM 9 AM WEDNESDAY THROUGH MIDNIGHT WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

* LOCATION...ALONG AND NORTH OF A LINE FROM PICKENS TO SHELBY TO
RANDOLPH COUNTIES.

* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW TOTALS OF 2 TO 5 INCHES WITH ISOLATED
HIGHER AMOUNTS.

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS. ONLY TRAVEL IN AN EMERGENCY. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL...KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT... FOOD...AND WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY.
