Did you know that Alabama football has only been defeated twice at home when ranked #1 in the country?! So it doesn't happen often, but it has happened! Here's the irony ...

The most recent loss the Tide took at home when ranked #1 was in 2012 against Texas A&M! (Not trying to jinx this weekend's game, just letting you know!) Texas A&M was ranked #15, playing under first year head coach Kevin Sumlin, and led by freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel. It was the Ag's first year in the SEC. Ring a bell yet? The Aggies went 7-2 that season, with their biggest win coming against Alabama at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The eventual Heisman Trophy winner Manziel completed 24 of 31 passes, had 253 passing yards, and two passing touchdowns with 92 rushing yards to upset the Tide. HERE'S THE GOOD NEWS! BAMA WENT ON TO WIN THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP OVER NOTRE DAME ... SOOOOO, all's well that ends well! :)

Meanwhile, the first loss Alabama took at home, while ranked #1, came against #7 USC in 1978. It was the Bear's 21st year and the Tide were still playing their games at Legion Field in Birmingham. The Trojans beat Alabama 24-14. BUT, here's the GREAT NEWS AGAIN ... Alabama went on to win the next 9 games and their 5th National Championship in the Sugar Bowl over Penn State.

So, moral of this story? Even if something crazy happens this weekend against Texas A&M (Bama upset) ... history says the Crimson Tide will still win the National Championship! (But let's win this weekend anyway, just for good measure) ROLL TIDE!!
