Talladega Superspeedway will play host to a different kind of competition when the best backyard chefs from central Alabama square off on Saturday, February 8th!

It's the ninth annual Alabama Wildlife Federation / Alabama Army National Guard Wild Game Cook-Off. The cook-off teams will fire up their grills and bring out their delicious recipes for a chance to be crowned Alabama’s Best!

In addition to the delicious food prepared by the area’s best wild game cooks, a major highlight of the day will be the chance to take a ride around the biggest and baddest racetrack in the world in the Talladega Superspeedway official pace car. Rides will run from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and are sold for ONLY $25 in advance or $40 the day of the event. Each ride also qualifies the purchaser for a drawing for one 6-lap Superspeedway teaser with the Dale Jarrett Racing Adventure.

Tickets to attend the Alabama Army National Guard/AWF Wild Game Cook-Off are $40 per person, or $50 per couple (tickets for pace car rides are sold separately). To purchase tickets, pre-order rides around the track or participate as a cook team call Alabama Wildlife Federation at 1-800-822-9453 or visit their website at www.alabamawildlife.org.

During the Cook-Off, attendees will experience an array of spectacular silent auction items in the center isle of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series garage. Expected items include hunting trips with various celebrities, autographed racing memorabilia, outdoor-themed art prints, Alabama and Auburn treasures, along with numerous ladies items. There will also be various displays for added fun.

“The Wild Game Cook-Off is a huge opportunity for families to come out and enjoy great food, bid on one-of-a-kind silent auction items and soak in the incredible atmosphere of a real NASCAR garage,” said track Chairman Grant Lynch. “When the Cook-Off comes around each year you know it’s time for some uniquely delicious dishes like you’ve never had before, but it also signifies the start of a new season of the most exciting racing in the world at Talladega Superspeedway.”

Celebrity judges for the Cook-Off will be announced prior to the event. The winning cook team for the Talladega event will be invited to the state finals held at Lanark in Millbrook, AL, August 9, to compete for the title of AWF 2014 Wild Game Cook-Off State Champion.
