What’s The Story Behind The “Jesus Will Save You” Sign Guy at 5 Points?

There's a man pacing in front of Bojangles at the 5 Points intersection on University Blvd. He's holding a sign that says "Jesus Will Save You".  What's his story?

Dedication. Commitment. Resolve. Faith. Those are a few words that come to mind. I've seen this guy every morning for some weeks. He just holds the sign and walks back and forth in the median.  If fact, he's beaten a path out in the grass.

The first few times, I didn't think much about it. You know, a one track mind, doing my own thing. I think a lot of people were like me. After a few days, I noticed some cars at the intersection honking their horns and waving at him. He enthusiastically points and waves back. Holding fast his sign. This morning was the same. He was there with his sign and folks were honking and waving and so was I.

Today is National Day of Prayer. What better day to get this mans story? What do you know about him? We are sending Just-A-Buck Justin to find out more.

UPDATE: I stopped by Bojangles at 5 Points this morning. I just had to personally say hello to the man holding the "Jesus Will Save You" sign. Especially after seeing the number of comments and shares of the Facebook post I did yesterday about him.  He was there this morning at 5:30. He was wearing an Alabama Jacket and cap. I'm not sure what I expected but Mr. James David Bonner is just a regular guy that has a passion for Christ.

I told him who I was and that we had a ton of people interested in his story. I told him he had touched a lot of people being at that intersection everyday and asked what would he like to tell folks. His comment was so simple. He said: "Tell them I love them." "Tell them there's Heaven and there's Hell and Jesus will Save them".  Amen, Mr. Bonner.

I told him I'd heard he had some Christian Comedy CD's. He said yes and he'd been doing that for 20 years. He said he loves Tuscaloosa and he loves people. If you just look at the engagement on the Facebook post yesterday, people love him too.
