The 12th Annual 'Walk & Roll to Cure SMA' will be held this Saturday, November 1st at Snow Hinton Park. Registration starts at 10am with a kick-off ceremony at 11:15am.

All proceeds will go toward helping fund research to find a cure to this disease and supporting local families affected by spinal muscular atrophy. The number one genetic killer of children under the age of two.

According to CureSMA.com,

SMA (spinal muscular atrophy) is a disease that robs people of physical strength by affecting the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord, taking away the ability to walk, eat, or breathe. It is the number one genetic cause of death for infants.

SMA affects approximately 1 in 10,000 babies, and about 1 in every 50 Americans is a genetic carriers. SMA can affect any race or gender.

This is a family friendly event so bring the kids to enjoy a climbing wall, face painting, bounder, playground, clown, door prizes, carnival games, a HUGE Silent Auction, and even an appearance by Big Al!
