Joran van der Sloot, the primary suspect in the case of missing Mountain Brook teenager Natalee Holloway, was recently captured on video offering a possible confession.

Joran van der Sloot, currently serving time in a Peru prison, was taped while speaking with his wife, Leidy, on February 1, 2016. In the taped conversation, he appears to confess to the murder of Natalee Holloway.

Van der Sloot was caught smiling as he revealed that he'd "always lied to police" and "never told the truth." He revealed that investigation into Holloway's disappearance was "one of the worst investigations that ever took place" and that he "was guilty," although he never outright confessed to the murder.

"I made up so many lies against the police," Van der Sloot said. "Also, when I was younger, I never told everything. The police just never knew what they had to ask me."

Van der Sloot was the last person to be seen with Natalee Holloway before her disappearance in Aruba. She was visiting the Carribean island as part of a high school trip celebrating their 2005 graduation from Mountain Brook High.

The video was secretly recorded in what Radar Online reports was a deal with The National Enquirer. Van der Sloot is currently serving a sentence for the 2010 murder of a 22-year-old woman from Peru.
