Over the weekend, a van in the parking lot of Buddy's Food Mart on McFarland was the drop off sight for items going to help tornado victims in Georgia.

Trip Powell, President of Powell Petroleum and Buddy's Food Marts and Jim Page, President and CEO of West Alabama Chamber of Commerce teamed up with Two Men and A Truck to accept items that are to be taken to tornado-ravaged Albany, GA today.

Donations of non-perishable food, diapers, men's and women's toiletry items, gas cards, gift cards, and bottled water were accepted at various times throughout the weekend. The loaded truck is expected to arrive sometime this afternoon.

Just one more example of how much Tuscaloosa residents appreciated the help coming from other communities after the devastating tornadoes we experienced in 2011.
