United Way of West Alabama (UWWA) will “unwrap” their campaign total during a Campaign Celebration on Tuesday, December 15th from 5:30-7:00 pm.

The event will be held at Embassy Suites at 2410 University Blvd. in Tuscaloosa

While friends, volunteers and donor s of United Way are anticipating the announcement of whether West Alabama met its record goal of $3.4 million, they can mingle with fellow supporters. Meanwhile, Campaign Chairman Gene Poole will be working on presenting his “gift” to the crowd. With the help of fellow Campaign Cabinet members, he’ll be rolling out the total at 6 pm.

Jackie Wuska, President and CEO of UWWA said,

We hope everyone will join us to celebrate our campaign total that they all had a hand in raising. Even with unfortunate losses of jobs and businesses in our community, we are so grateful to the many individuals who have stepped up to ensure our partner agencies can help community members who are now looking for new jobs or need assistance.

The campaign kicked off on August 11th at the Bryant Conference Center and has been going strong in the nine-county service region since then. Many companies have invited partner agencies to speak and hosted their own kickoff parties to help lift needed campaign totals.

Campaign Chairman Gene Poole added,

Our cabinet did a great job encouraging company leaders to step up campaigns and by getting new companies in Tuscaloosa and our surrounding counties to start campaigns.  We knew that our community had taken a few economic hits and that the United Way partner agencies would need even more help in the year to come. We took action.

UWWA seeks to continually improve the quality of life for residents of Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Marengo, Pickens, Sumter and Tuscaloosa counties by funding effective programs and services throughout these service areas.  United Way creates opportunities by focusing on the building blocks for a good life – Education, Income/Financial Stability, & Health.
