UA Theatre and Dance is presenting Molière's comedy Tartuffe and we'll have your chance to win tickets to one of the showings!

The production will take place in the Marian Gallaway Theatre at Rowand-Johnson Hall, located at 348 Stadium Drive on Tuesday, September 29th through Saturday, October 3rd at 7:30 pm and Sunday, October 4th at 2 pm.

Tartuffe is Molière’s quintessential comedy about a mother and son, Madame Pernelle and Orgon, blinded by devotion to Tartuffe, a hypocritically pious con-artist. Hilarity ensues when family and friends join forces to expose the impostor and restore Orgon’s house to order.

This show is a unique opportunity for actors to work on a different type of rhyming verse compared to the better known Shakespearean style according to director and Professor of Acting Seth Panitch. On top of the difficult language, he says actors learn to “balance the needs of honest connection with the demands of constantly rhyming in verse.” This is not the only balancing act incorporated into the show. The concurrence of comedy and tragedy throughout the entire show, will keep audiences engaged and entertained. Set in a dreamlike “grotesque world” the cast and crew have been able to recreate this realistic play in non-realistic ways.

Tickets are $14 for students, $17 for seniors and UA faculty and staff, and $20 for adults. They are available in Rowand-Johnson Hall at the ticket office in the front lobby, by phone at 205.348.3400 or online here.

95.3 The Bear will also have your chance to win tickets next Thursday with Madison & Shepherd from 6-10 am each weekday.
