Brookwood High School graduate and Tuscaloosa musician makes it to Hollywood on American Idol!  We were first introduced to Casey Thrasher when he and his band won the "Battle of the Bands" contest late last year hosted by Rhythm & Brews.

We had Casey in studio the following morning and he talked about following his dreams to make his living playing music.

When Corey Smith played the Amp in September and Casey was able to get back stage to meet him, he had no idea that he would be standing in line at the Amp just a few weeks later to audition for his shot at becoming the next American Idol. The lines were long and emotions were high when the American Idol tour bus rolled into T-town. In the end, Casey was chosen from the crowd in Tuscaloosa for the Salt Lake City Auditions in front of Keith, Jennifer and Harry.

American Idol highlighted the fact that Casey, at only 22, is a dad and he's chasing his dream for his two small children, 2 1/2 and 6 months old. "Two precious reasons right here" was how Casey put it.

While standing in front of the judges, he told the story of how he met Keith Urban once at the CMA's and promised Keith he'd see his face again. Casey was influenced by by Keith Urban's words "I believe in you brother!". So the song he chose to sing reflected that. "I Believe" by Brooks and Dunn. Three yes's from the panel!

Way to go Casey Thrasher! We Believe! Represent Brother!  We should have Casey on air with Madison and Shepherd Friday morning to talk about his American Idol journey so far.
