Tuscaloosa Tourism & Sports (TTS) announced today that first North Regional Bowling Qualifiers will be hosted in Tuscaloosa.

The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) released that bowling has been added as a championship sport beginning with the 2015-16 school year. Tuscaloosa’s Leland Lanes will host the regional qualifiers Jan. 21-22, 2016.

TTS Director of Sports Jay Kasten said,

We are ecstatic to host a regional championship for the inaugural AHSAA bowling season. Tuscaloosa and Leland Lanes look forward to hosting some of the best young bowlers in the state, and creating a memorable experience for everyone involved.

Tuscaloosa Tourism & Sports partners with the AHSAA for several other sporting events throughout the year. This December, Tuscaloosa will host the Super 7 State Football Championships in Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Super 7, formerly known as the Super 6, is one of the most well attended state football championships in the country. Each spring, Munny Sokol Park in Tuscaloosa hosts the AHSAA Softball Regional Tournament. The combined estimated economic impact for these two events is over $9.5 million.

The TTS  works to advance the city of Tuscaloosa by bringing in events that will stimulate economic growth. By partnering with the AHSAA, Tuscaloosa has the opportunity to host major sporting events for high schools around the state.
