A Lake Tuscaloosa goose was struck by an arrow two weeks ago and residents have reached out for assistance to see that Loosie gets the help she needs. On Monday, Page Holifield messaged me the link to Facebook user Tammy Tierce's post that included images of an injured goose on Lake Tuscaloosa. The heartbreaking image revealed the bird had been hit with an arrow that had essentially bisected the animal. She'd been living with the arrow for two weeks.

Despite numerous attempts to rescue her, Loosie remained understandably skittish and refused to let anyone near her and state wildlife agencies were unable to help.  A $250 reward was offered for information leading to the identity of the COWARDLY JERK who left the goose with the arrow in her side.

After taking Loosie's plight to the air, donations poured in and the reward amount increased to $1200. Several hours later, Tuscaloosa Police Capt. Joe Pearson sent over several pictures of Loosie's rescue that showed he along with Officer Shane Sanford, an unnamed gentleman in a nearby bass boat, managed to capture Loosie and transport her to the vet.

Thanks to the amazing efforts of the Tuscaloosa Police Department, May Veterinary Clinic, Tammy Tierce and the young man in the boat, Loosie is arrow free and expected to make a full recovery.
