Selling something online? You need to read this first.  The Tuscaloosa Police Department is currently investigating claims of counterfeit money being used to purchase items from Craigslist.

TPD stated that they'd received complaints earlier this month from victims who were paid fake cash for items they'd sold through Craigslist. Each victim had placed a listing on Craigslist and had received the counterfeit money after meeting the suspects in person to sell their items. The victims were all paid in either $5, $20, or $50 bills.

The suspects were described as black males in their early 20's. In two of the cases, the suspects were said to be driving a maroon early 2000's model Honda Accord and a black 2012 Toyota Camry.

If you have any information on the suspect(s) involved in these cases please contact Tuscaloosa County Crime Stoppers at 205-752-STOP or CID at 205-248-4520.
