Interested in opening a new business in Tuscaloosa? Now is the perfect time, as the City of Tuscaloosa is prepared to award two $100,000 loans to new businesses in the 10th Avenue or Alberta areas.

These areas, dubbed the tornado recovery zones, have been under development since April 2011, when a massive tornado ripped through the city, heavily affecting the landscape. As a result, the City of Tuscaloosa has been awarded numerous grants to help rebuild. Since these areas were the hardest hit, most of the money received was allocated to these areas.

To be a recipient in this wave of available funds, entrepreneurs must participate in a Shark Tank-style competition.

For more information on this and other ways the City is assisting current and future business owners, contact Caramyl Drake at cdrake@tuscaloosa.com or Tuscaloosa 311.
