Beginning 4:00 pm this Sunday at First Baptist Church, over 220 different speakers will begin reading passages from each of the 66 books contained in the Holy Bible.

In 2015 Greg Rogers, co-founder of Hope 4 My City, wanted to show his love and appreciation for the country that gives him the freedom to read scripture aloud.

The Greater Tuscaloosa Bible Reading Marathon featured hundreds of speakers taking 15-minute turns to read various passages. Over 40 congregations participated in the event which was considered a resounding success.

Speaking with Tuscaloosa News, Rogers said, 'I believe that there is an opportunity for the church to show unity by doing something together. I feel it does allow a blessing to go over our city to have the word of God read aloud like that.'

The marathon will conclude with a ceremony commemorating the National Day of Prayer Thursday which will begin at 11:45 am on the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse steps.
