Looking back on my childhood Thanksgiving Day celebrations, I always expected a house full of people. Some were family and some were friends.

The arrival time of our yearly guest was left to how far they had to travel. Most of our family was within 50 miles so they always came to visit early in the day while others had hundreds of miles to travel.

We have cousins in Chicago and they always talked about the drive down here as they rolled in around mid afternoon. We traditionally waited on everyone and had our Thanksgiving feast later in the evening. I have never really thought about what all our traveling family members had to endure until recently.

I will have to travel out of town this year and an looking forward to it but at the same time I know just driving for two and a half hours there and two and a half hours back will be grueling!
