A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. tomorrow, and Alabamians are being urged not to travel after 10 a.m. today.

Once snow begins in Tuscaloosa shortly after 10 a.m., road conditions will rapidly deteriorate. Snow and ice will make travel difficult and, later this evening, impossible.

In an earlie post on the ABC 33/40 Weather Blog, James Spann states that those of us in Tuscaloosa should stay off the roads today:

"Road conditions will deteriorate within 30 minutes to 1 hour after the onset of the snow. Be in a place where you want to be for 24-48 hours at that point. Don’t get stranded. For the larger cities of Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Anniston, and Gadsden, I would be off the roads by [10 a.m.] today."

We will continue to monitor travel conditions across West Alabama and bring you the latest updates from Captain Ray in the Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Traffic Center.
