Tornado Watch Issued for Some West Alabama Counties

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a TORNADO WATCH for three counties in the West Alabama area Thursday night.

The following counties are in the watch area:

• Greene
• Sumter 
• Hale

The TORNADO WATCH is active through 3 a.m. on Friday.  

A watch does not mean that the severe weather is actually occurring, only that atmospheric conditions have created a significant risk for it. If severe weather actually does occur, a tornado warning or severe thunderstorm warning would then be issued
