As we take time to reflect on the past year, we here at TIDE 99.1 wanted to look back at the most important moments of 2013 for Alabama. Although it was difficult to narrow it down to just five moments, but they are moments that will go down in not only Alabama history, but all of sports history.

    A.J. McCarron Wins the Maxwell

    McCarron ended his career as quite possibly the greatest quarterback in Crimson Tide history. Counting his redshirt year, he was a part of three national championships, but winning the Maxwell solidified his absolutely amazing career. The Maxwell Award is awarded annually to the nation's most outstanding player, and no one deserved it more than McCarron.

    Alabama Golf Sweeps the Field

    Both the Men's and Women's Golf teams were able to win national championships this year. Men's coach Jay Seawell and Women's coach Mic Potter have built up programs that now rival the football program in relevance and dominance. And with the recruiting classes that are coming in, don't expect this trend to end anytime soon.

    Nick Saban Signs Extension to Stay with Tide

    No story has overwhelmed the college football world like the rumors of Mack Brown's future with the University of Texas, and no rumors were louder than the ones about Nick Saban leaving Alabama for the Texas head coach position. By signing his extension, he all but guaranteed that he'll be retiring as a Crimson Tider.

    Alabama Wins 2nd Straight National Championship

    By defeating Notre Dame in the 2013 BCS National Championship, Alabama officially became a dynasty. Beating the Fighting Irish helped place Saban as one of the greatest coaches ever, and this senior class as the greatest class of all time, especially in a time of such parity in college athletics.

    The Passing of Mal Moore

    There has not been a more influential person for the University of Alabama than Coach Mal Moore. What he did for college athletics, the university, and the state of Alabama is priceless. His leadership and direction led Alabama to the athletic dominance it is in right now. Not only did Moore contribute to the current success of the program, but he also contributed as a player and coach. We all love and miss him, and may his memory serve us well in the coming years.
