Billy's Sports Grill is hosting a 'Tips for Tuscaloosa' songwriter's show tonight to benefit the Tuscaloosa County Preservation Society.

The money raised will actually help to preserve the McGuire-Strickland House which was built in the early 1820s and is part of the Capitol School “complex” that's on the edge of Capitol Park.

The monthly event features local and Nashville based singer/songwriters in what is known as a "round". Singing their songs, telling stories and musically accompanying each other.

Artists featured tonight will include Hope Cassity, Anderson Koerner, Jordan Anderson, Victoria Camp, Jackson Capps, Erath Old, Matt Bennett, Trey Lewis, Mike Jones, John Miller and Brian Futch. The 'Tips for Tuscaloosa' Facebook event page promises one surprise act will be featured each month!

If you're a songwriter and interested in playing tonight, there will be an open mic portion, so you'll need to arrive by 5:30pm to sign up.

There is a suggested $20 cover at the door, but that is not required by any means. Billy’s will also have half off all wine by the glass tonight.

Show starts at 6pm.
