Fichtner, a catcher on the UA softball team was named the SEC Player of the Week! The native of Houston, TX helped lead the Tide to three wins this past week by batting 7-for-9 with three runs, a home run and five RBI.

According to RollTide.com, "Fichtner added two walks, for an .818 on base percentage and slugged 1.111. Against what was the NCAA leader in ERA entering the weekend Chelsea Thomas, Fichtner batted 7-for-8 (.875) with three runs, a home run and five RBI. The home run was her first as a member of the Crimson Tide. In the series opener against Missouri, Fichtner batted 3-for-3 with a RBI. In game two she batted 1-for-2 before having a career day in the series finale. The junior batted 3-for-3 with two runs, four RBI and her first Alabama home run."
