The final 16 restaurants in this year's Munch Madness contest has been set and we're just a little over a week away from the winner being crowned.

Voting has been ongoing for the past week and listeners around West Alabama have been deciding who moves on in the bracket. We began with 64 of the best restaurants in the area and we've reached the 'Savory 16' round.

Here are some observations from the first two rounds:

  • Defending champion Taco Casa continues its run through the bracket.
  • Six restaurants that were not a part of the contest have advanced to the 'Savory 16': Kozy's, Avenue Pub, Southern Ale House, Maki Fresh, Brothers Express Pizza, and Ruan Thai.
  • Tuscaloosa might be known for its barbecue, but the 16 restaurants still remaining showcase a variety of flavors and cuisines. Looks like this city does a lot well!

Wednesday is an off day for the contest but voting will resume on Thursday as we get another step closer to finding out which location is Tuscaloosa's favorite. Here's how the last four rounds of voting will go:

Thursday: Crimson & White Regions, Savory 16

Friday: Houndstooth & Yellowhammer Regions, Savory 16

Monday-Tuesday:  Enticing 8

Wednesday-Thursday (4/2): Final 4

4/3-4/6: Finals

4/7: Winner Reveal

All of the voting rules will remain the same throughout the contest. You can vote as much as you'd like for your favorite restaurant while the polls are open. Whoever receives the most votes will move on to the next round until we eventually name a winner.
