My mother was drug into the technological age against her will, kicking and screaming but once there she embraced all that the virtual universe offered with relish.

She plays Candy Crush like it's her profession, publishes fascinating novels in Facebook status updates, and assures anyone with hesitance, that shopping online is 'the only way to go'.

She also sends me texts, the majority of which involve some sort of technological disaster await her.

I guess letting go of all virtual skepticism is hard for mom. Not only do toll free numbers fall under her umbrella of suspicion but so does listening to voice mail messages left by unidentified callers.
