One Louisiana teen has taken full advantage of one of the opportunities also afforded to students in Alabama: dual enrollment. Azariya McClendon graduated from high school and college in the same day.

Reports say the 17-year-old began taking college courses during her sophomore year. Friday, she received her associates degree from Bossier Parish Community College and then graduated from Ringgold High School later that evening. McClendon has plans to become an OBGYN after obtaining a bachelor's degree and attending medical school.

This isn't the first time for such an occurrence. As a matter of fact, one Florida 16-year-old graduated with her bachelor's degree before receiving her high school diploma just two years ago.

While graduating from two schools in the same day for Tuscaloosa students may not be likely, graduating from two within a couple of weeks is certainly possible, as dual enrollment is allowed in our school systems. Pretty soon, one of these stories making headlines may be from one of our own.
