Each month we get to hang out a group of songwriters for a night of music and food at Billy’s Sports Grill in Northport.

The mission of Tips for Tuscaloosa is to help raise money for specific needs in the community through connecting local charities with listening room style live music events. During our monthly songwriter series, we pass around a hat collecting donations with 100% of the money raised going to help a chosen non-profit organization.

June’s event benefited the the DCH Cancer Center in honor of Tuscaloosa songwriter Mike Woodard. Woodard, unable to sing and barely speak due to his current battle with throat cancer, took to the mic to address the crowd and left not a single dry eye in the room.

Performers this month included Hope Cassity, Sweet Tea Trio, Adam hood, Ham Bagby, Rob Redwine, JP Miller, Megan McMillan, Kat Taylor, Darren Camp, Northport Mayor Bobby Herndon, Cody Lee Tilley, and more!

Here’s a photo recap of the night. Thanks to Eat My Beats and Digital Bliss Photography for the pics!
