Most men are familiar with the saying "A happy wife is a happy life" and live by it religiously. But this was certainly not the case for one Barbour County man.

If you've ever visited the Clayton City Cemetery, it may seem pretty normal until you reach a whiskey-shaped grave marker. This particular grave is the resting place of William T. Mullen who died in 1863.

Rumor has it, Mrs. Mullen, his wife, was frequently angry with her husband for his constant heavy drinking habits. Eventually, Mrs. Mullen threatened William that if he didn't step away from the bottle, she would find a way to humiliate him. Clayton City Cemetery is located Barbour County on Midway Street.
