Located in Montgomery, Alabama, the First White House of the Confederacy is known for housing Jefferson Davis and his family during the first year of the Civil War.

The home was built between 1832 and 1835 by an ancestor of Zelda Fitzgerald named William Sayre. After going through a number of different owners, the President of the Confederate States adopted this mansion in in 1861.

Davis only spent a few months in the White House and was moved due to the relocation of the Capitol to Richmond, Virginia. Years passed and the building began to rot into quite an eyesore until the White House Association brought it back to life.

The historic residence is now located on Washington Avenue and has been graced with the presence of distinguished figures such as Charlie Chaplin and Donny Osmond. Apparently Osmond even asked for the mansion's floor plans so he could construct a home just like it!
