You may have heard the song "Bad Bad Leroy Brown" but did you know that this name also belonged to the most famous fish in America?

In 1973, Tom Mann, a celebrity in the fishing world, caught a largemouth bass with his special-made strawberry jelly worm. Immediately, Mann became enamored with the little guy and decided to spare his life. He named the fish Leroy Brown and kept him in a 38-gallon aquarium in his bait shop. After a few years, Mann transformed his shop in Eufala, Alabama into Tom Mann's Fish World and the bass gained nationwide attention.

In 1981, Leroy passed away and over 800 fans attended his funeral. Strangely enough, someone even kidnapped the casket putting a $10,000 bounty into effect. The decomposing fish was finally found three weeks later in the baggage claim of the Tulsa, Oklahoma airport.

Although Leroy's memorial can still be found in Eufala, the infamous Fish World was shut down after Mann died in 2005.
