Not only is Mobile, Alabama famous for it's Mardi Gras festivals every year but this particular city also takes pride in a strange phenomenon called a jubilee.

A jubilee occurs when certain conditions cause low-oxygen in the water, forcing hundreds of sea creatures such as flounder and shellfish to swim towards the shore. They then become trapped, provoking a massive herd of Mobilians to break out their nets and spears.

This event usually takes place between midnight and dawn on a cloudy day when the bay water is calm. So, the next time you take a summer vacation to this southern city, make sure to keep an eye on the weather! You might just be able to feed the whole family for a week!
