Details announced and registrations are being for the 9th running of the Nucor-Holt 5k, on Saturday, August 29!

As the summer winds down, school returns, and so does the second half of race season around Tuscaloosa. This race in Holt is one of the first to welcome a series of weekend events to usher in fall.

There are a few factors which make this race unique:

  1. The heartbreak hill at the end. It is so challenging, and I love it! Don't feel bad if you have to walk a little, just about everyone does. Just have fun!
  2. Awards for the top finishers!  I've been fortunate enough to received a trophy for placing in my age group, and they are nice!
  3. Door prizes! The coordinators of this race are among the best in West Alabama at collecting and offering a wide variety of really good door prizes. I actually get excited when it's announced the time has come to draw. Oh yeah!

The is an official Tuscaloosa Track Club Grand Prix certified race.

Participants will receive complimentary drinks and snacks, along with a great looking shirt! The entry fee is only $15 in advance, and $20 on race day.  Yeah, save the $5 and sign-up now!

The race will start at 7 a.m. on Saturday, August 29 at Holt High School.  Proceeds from this event benefits Holt High School.
