Sarah Jarosz Wins Best American Roots Performance at the 2017 Grammy Awards

Sarah Jarosz  won the 2017 Grammy Awards Best American Roots Performance trophy on Sunday (Feb. 12). The honor was handed out during the Premiere Ceremony, which streamed online before the televised awards show

Jarosz' Best American Roots Performance win was for "House of Mercy," from her fourth studio album, Undercurrent. That record also picked up a Grammys win in 2017, for Best American Roots Performance.

In "House of Mercy,” the talented Jarosz dives deeper than ever. She played guitar instead of mandolin or banjo on the track, and as proved by her Grammys trophy, sometimes deviating out of your comfort zone is the best thing to do.

Other commendable nominees for the Best American Roots Performance Grammys honor included “Ain’t No Man,” the Avett Brothers; “Mother’s Children Have a Hard Time,” Blind Boys of Alabama; “Factory Girl,” Rhiannon Giddens; and “Wreck You,” Lori McKenna.
