After splitting from her previous record label a little over one year ago, Sara Evans has launched a label of her own, called Born to Fly Records.

Evans' record label's name should be familiar to fans, as it is also the name of a No. 1 song and Top 10 album that Evans released in 2000.

“I’m extremely excited to be launching this venture, and I love that the label is Born to Fly," Evans says in a press release. "I wrote that song about my own life, coming to Nashville and following my dreams. It’s a dream come true to surround myself with my own team and truly embrace my entrepreneurial spirit; taking complete control of my career and brand is so freeing. I can’t wait to share this new project with everyone!”

Evans is preparing her eighth studio album, which will, of course, be released through Born to Fly Records. The yet-to-be-named album follows the singer's previous release, Slow Me Down, which cracked the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart when it was released in 2014.

“I would like to do another big radio splash, big hits, big tour again; I’m just waiting for the ‘bro-country’ stuff to get on its way out," Evans previously told The Boot of her plans for her next project. "I’ve been listening to a lot of roots-y music. The kids really want me to make a country record, especially my middle child; she’s like, ‘You need to make a country record’ …

“I’m not making a bluegrass record at all, but all of my albums have a part of me that’s really country and a part of me that does a pop cover,” Evans adds. “I guess how I feel right now feels more in [the former] area.”

After parting from Sony Music Nashville’s RCA Nashville at the beginning of 2016, Evans signed with Sugar Hill Records in August of 2016. Born to Fly Records releases will be distributed through Sony Red.
