To the surprise of some, center Ryan Kelly was the first Alabama player taken in 2016 NFL Draft. The Colts selected the Rimington Award winner with the 18th overall pick in the first round.

The pick extended the Crimson Tide's streak to eight straight seasons with at least one first-round selection. That brings the total to 18 over eight drafts for Nick Saban.

Kelly started three season after replacing Barrett Jones in 2013. He became a unanimous first team All-American, first team All-SEC, and won the SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year Award.

Alabama is still expected to have one to three more first round picks over the final 10 on Thursday night.
