One year ago, Jimmy McAteer was involved in a motorcycle accident that resulted in burns covering nearly half his body but he won't have to face recovery alone.

On June 19, 2015, Jimmy McAteer was involved in a motorcycle accident on 359. He became trapped under his burning bike before being rescued. He was air lifted to Birmingham where he spent months in the ICU Burn Trauma Unit with burns covering almost 45% of his body.

Today, Jimmy doesn't have many material things left and his road to recovery is a long one that includes many reconstructive surgeries, but he does have a lot of family and friends who care about him and his two children.

On May 14, the Road To Recovery Ride benefiting Jimmy will begin at Bible Methodist Church in Greensboro. Registration will begin at 9:00 am, kick stands up at 10:30 and the race will end at Bama Bike Fest in Forkland.

The cost is $20 for a single, $25 for a double and lunch will be available. There will be door prizes and bike games. T-shirts are also available for purchase.
