We already knew that Alabama baseball will be opening a renovated Sewell-Thomas Stadium for the 2016 season, but now we know who the Crimson Tide will face in that opening series.

According to Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball, Mitch Gaspard's team  will square off against the Maryland Terrapins of the Big Ten.

Traditionally, Maryland hasn't been a power in college baseball, but the program has enjoyed some of its biggest success these past two seasons. The Terrapins are getting set for a NCAA Super Regional series against Virginia after knocking off the tournament's overall number one seed, UCLA. The team brings a lot of talent back and should begin the season in the top 25.

For Alabama, they'll hope to use the energy and excitement of the new-look Sewell-Thomas Stadium, which is in the process of completing a $35 million renovation, to rebound from a disappointing season. The Crimson Tide failed to make the NCAA Tournament after finishing with a 32-28 overall record.
